mixed media, wooden & glass pedestal and cream & cake, 2024

The installation features a collection of obsolete objects I've encountered in various spaces or unexpectedly found in a state of obsolescence. These objects, representing remnants of habits, behaviors, choices, or attractions, hold intrinsic value as obsolete items and are showcased in a specially designed glass display, serving as a pedestal for the central performative element: a cake adorned with printed images of these objects. As more cake is served on the glass pedestal and consumed by the visitors, the more the real objects become visible under the glass. The performance is further enriched with photographs of the spaces where these objects were found, poetry printed on paper plates and recycled A4 paper, and paintings.

The concept of obsolescence serves as a reminder that both we and everything we create are in a continual process of decay and eventual demise. Yet, we came together to celebrate the the ephemeral and felt so good!

Thanks, everyone, for being there and making this idea come to life!

Also, shout out to everyone who may sometimes feel like a silicone toilet brush head without a matching stick or an outdated passport sitting in the back of a drawer; we hear you and we celebrate you!
